This scarf is woven with Heritage. Months of research and scouting led to this vintage Japanese silk, chosen for its extreme high quality and its bold, authentic design. Handcrafted in a single limited batch, each piece is a pice of art, coming with it’s own edition number.

Named for Iceland’s national flower, this deeply rich indigo silk scarf is woven in the traditional ‘ Rinzu’ technique, combining varying types of silk threads to create a selective woven pattern similar to brocade.

Commonly known as Mountain Avens, Holtasoley ( Dryas Octopetala ) can be found growing in the gravelly mountain slopes in all regions of Iceland. Despite only be named the national flower in 2004, Holtasoley has an interesting history with the nation. Once used as a medicinal herb to cure inflammation, as well as a substitute for tobacco and tea, the most surprising thing  about this flower is perhaps it’s power to attract money from the earth.  According to the local folklore,  if one were to steal money from a new widow while she’s attending mass and then bury the loot under Holtsoley,  supposedly, it will double in value.  Note: In no way is this an endorsement for robbing poor widows. ]
