This scarf is woven with Heritage. Imported directly from Osaka, Japan, this vintage Japanese wool has been chosen for its extreme high quality and its bold, authentic design. Handcrafted in a single limited batch, each piece is a pice of art, coming with it’s own edition number.
Woven patterns of yarn-dyed wool create an intricate, reversible pattern resembling the ‘Boro’ garments of old Japan.
Boro or “tattered rags” was a technique developed to lengthen the lifespan of worn garments by creating a patchwork of fabrics, often combined with ‘Shashiko’ style stitching to add further durability and warmth. Boro fabrics are considered today as one of Japans lost folk-crafts and are prized by collectors and curators worldwide.
