Ten minutes outside central London, upon the river Thames, sits iron-framed glasshouses concealing some of the largest and most diverse plant life on the planet. They Kew Gardens ( or better known as the Royal Botanic Gardens ) have been making significant contributions to the study of plant diversity & conservation of ecosystems since it’s creation in 1759. 
Initially created to grow and research medicinal plants by Princess Augusta and Lord Brute, the gardens have steadily developed and expanded to over 132 hectares, conveying beautifully maintained garden-scapes of the last 3 centuries. Alongside the rose bush mazes and water gardens lives 44 buildings in total with original architecture preserved. These red-brick buildings and glass houses have been designed by some of the most famed architects of their time, such as Richard Turner designer of the 'Palm House’ or William Kent who helped design one of the many landscapes in the Garden of Kew. 
Each one of the over 100 gardens, ponds and attractions has a unique essence to it, displaying a variety of different plants both indigenous and non-indesgenous to the area. Walking through The Gardens of Kew is a transportive experience. With over 100 gardens, ponds & attractions, one could go from the Redwood Grove, to the Queens Cottage to the Japanese Gate in a matter of minutes.
